Explanation
1. BACKGROUND
This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Service to enter into a reimbursement agreement with Columbia Gas of Ohio, Inc. for the purpose of providing funding for necessary work to be included in the Arterial Street Rehabilitation - Fairwood Avenue/Watkins Road - Koebel Road project.
As part of this project it is necessary to remove a 20 inch gas line owned by Columbia Gas. The cost of this expense will be funded by Columbia Gas of Ohio, Inc., but initially will be paid for by the City of Columbus. The City will bill Columbia Gas as the completion of the project and receive reimbursement at that time.
Searches in the Excluded Party List System (Federal) and the Findings for Recovery list (State) produced no findings against Columbia Gas of Ohio, Inc.
2. FISCAL IMPACT:
As part of the agreement authorized by this ordinance Columbia Gas of Ohio, Inc. will reimburse the City for expenses incurred in the removal of the gas line.
3. CONTRACT COMPLIANCE
The contract compliance number for Columbia Gas of Ohio, Inc. is 310673990 and expires 2/15/13.
4. Emergency Justification
Emergency action is requested to allow this project to proceed as scheduled and allow pedestrian safety improvements that are part of this project to be in place at the earliest possible time.
