To recognize and honor Experience Columbus' EXPY Awards on the tenth anniversary of the event.

WHEREAS, Tuesday, March 6, 2012, Experience Columbus will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of its EXPY Awards event; and
WHEREAS, for the past ten years, Experience Columbus has presented the EXPY Awards to recognize contributions by businesses, organizations and individuals whose creativity and innovation have helped create a vibrant and distinctive Columbus experience for visitors and residents and has propelled the city into the national spotlight; and
WHEREAS, EXPY Award winners must deliver an exceptional experience for visitors by creating a more attractive environment, providing improved access to amenities or delivering unparalleled access to a meeting, convention or group; and
WHEREAS, past recipients of Experience Columbus' EXPY Award have included Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, The Columbus Zoo, German Village, COSI, Columbus Crew, Huntington Park and the Columbus Museum of Art, among many others; and
WHEREAS, this year's Experience Columbus EXPY Awards event, on its tenth anniversary, coincides with the 200th birthday of the City of Columbus; and
WHEREAS, the EXPY Awards are a way to showcase the mission of Experience Columbus, which is to sell, market and promote the Destination Columbus experience to visitors; and
WHEREAS, in this, the tenth Experience Columbus EXPY Awards event, the recipients include Dine Originals Columbus, the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation and the Short North Business Association, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council honors and recognizes the Experience Columbus EXPY Awards on the tenth anniversary of the event.
