BACKGROUND: The Columbus Department of Development is proposing to enter into a Jobs Growth Incentive Agreement with Food Safety Net Services - Ohio, LLC equal to twenty-five percent (25%) of the amount of personal income tax withheld on new employees for a term of five (5) years. Food Safety Net Services - Ohio, LLC will make an investment of approximately $800,000, including $380,000 in lease-hold improvements, $255,000 in machinery and equipment, $40,000 in furniture and fixtures, $125,000 in new inventory and create 40 new full-time permanent positions with an annual payroll of approximately $1.18 million.
Food Safety Net Services - Ohio, LLC is a subsidiary of Food Safety Net Services, Ltd., and is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. The company was founded by Gina Bellinger, President (a microbiologist and graduate of Texas A&M University). The company has rapidly become a national network of ISO-accredited laboratories and consulting services that helps improve the effectiveness of food safety and quality programs for food processors and food industry professionals. Food Safety Net Services is one of the three largest food safety testing laboratories in the nation and has grown to encompass a highly technical staff including degreed scientists which specialize in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Other locations include San Antonio, Dallas/Fort Worth, Phoenix, Green Bay, Atlanta, Fresno, plus its newest facility in Los Angeles.
Food Safety Net Services - Ohio, LLC is proposing to open a new laboratory testing facility in the City of Columbus. The company will enter into a long-term lease agreement and renovate a vacant commercial building located at 4130 Fisher Road consisting of approximately 12,400 sq. ft. to expand its operation, to meet its increased growth, and consumer demand.
