Explanation
Background
The Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging occupies two city-owned properties located at 174 and 182 E. Long Street. Said properties consist of approximately 39,000 square feet. The current property management and maintenance contract with Real Living HER, LLC will expire June 30, 2012.
Requests for proposals were received on May 14, 2012 and Real Living HER, LLC was the overall lowest qualifying bidder.

Emergency action is requested so that building maintenance services will continue without interruption.
Fiscal Impact
$230,000.00 is required and budgeted from the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund to meet the financial obligation for the first year of this contract.
Title
To authorize and direct the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into the first year of a three-year contract with Real Living HER, LLC for property management and maintenance services for the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging; to authorize the expenditure of up to $230,000.00 from the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund; and to declare an emergency. ($230,000.00).
Body
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Central Ohio Area Agency of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediate necessary to enter into said contract so that building maintenance services will continue without interruption; NOW, THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1: That the Director of Recreation and Parks be and he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into the first year of a three-year contract with Real Living HER, LLC for property management and maintenance services.
Section 2. That the expenditure of $230,000.00, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and is hereby authorized from the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund No. 286, Department No. 51, Object Level Three, 3336, to pay the cost thereof as follows:

Section 3. That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, or 10 days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
