To honor, recognize and celebrate the life of Columbus Police Detective Marcia Jo "Jody" Frederick and to extend our sincerest condolences to her family, friends and colleagues on the occasion of her passing, September 18, 2012.

WHEREAS, Marcia Jo "Jody" Frederick was born in Louisville, Kentucky on July 13, 1959; and
WHEREAS, in 1996, Det. Frederick became a proud graduate of the Columbus Division of Police Academy; and
WHEREAS, Det. Frederick joined the Columbus Division of Police as a patrol officer in the German Village area of Columbus, dedicating herself to ensuring the safety and improving the lives of Columbus residents; and
WHEREAS, after five years as a patrol officer, Det. Frederick joined the Special Victims Bureau. She served in that bureau for the past nine years, protecting and serving child victims of sexual abuse; and
WHEREAS, Det. Frederick was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States. She was a devoted mother to her canine children, Umtali's Arrest Me Red (Speedracer) and Umtali's You Have The Right To Remain Silent (Sy); and
WHEREAS, Det. Frederick was preceded in death by her father Roy F. Frederick; and
WHEREAS, she is survived by her mother, Janet; sister, Catherine; nephews, Scott and Hunter; great-nephew, Mason; great-niece Avery; her law enforcement family; and numerous friends and grateful citizens; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby honor and recognize a dedicated member of the Columbus Division of Police and an outstanding public servant, Marcia Jo "Jody" Frederick, with the utmost esteem on the occasion of her passing, September 18, 2012.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of the Resolution be presented to Marcia Jo "Jody" Frederick's family with our sincerest condolences and respect.
