To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and recognize the Ohio Hispanic Coalition's Second annual Fiesta Mexicana.
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, the Ohio Hispanic Coalition established Fiesta Mexicana during national Hispanic Heritage Month to celebrate the rich diversity of the Hispanic community; and
 
WHEREAS, the mission of the Ohio Hispanic Coalition is to improve the well-being and quality of life for all Hispanics through advocacy, education, training, and access to quality services; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus works to promote New Americans and is home to the fastest growing population of Hispanics in the state of Ohio and;
 
WHEREAS, Fiesta Mexicana is a free event filled with food, art, dance and live entertainment for all to enjoy; and
 
WHEREAS, Fiesta Mexicana attendees and their families will have an opportunity to learn about the various cultures that make up the Hispanic community; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this council does hereby recognize September as National Hispanic Heritage Month and celebrates the unique contributions of the Hispanic community to the culture and economy of the city of Columbus, and encourages residents and visitors to attend and participate in Fiesta Mexicana.
