Explanation
Passage of this ordinance will enable Columbus City Council to expend $14,000.00 from the Jobs Growth Fund, and to enter into a contract with Sinclair Media II for sponsorship of four WSYX ABC 6’s Job Boot Camps.
The ABC 6 Job Boot Camp is free to all residents, and will take place on February 19, April 2, July 16 and October 8, 2014 at the Aladdin Shrine Center from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Representatives from approximately 20 companies will be at the events interviewing attendees on the spot, and providing guidance on effective resume writing, interviewing, and networking.
Sponsorship of this event aligns with Columbus City Council’s priority of promoting opportunities for job creation, workforce development and technology integration.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for such sponsorship was allotted in the Jobs Growth Fund, Fund 015.
EMERGENCY DESIGNATION: It is requested that this Ordinance be handled in an emergency manner due to the time sensitive deadlines of event sponsorship.

WHEREAS, In 2009, WSYX ABC 6 hosted its first Job Boot Camp; and
WHEREAS, Since that time, well over 35,000 people have attended an ABC 6 Job Boot Camp; and
WHEREAS, it is a top priority of Columbus City Council to support efforts that enhance regional job creation, workforce development and technology integration; and
WHEREAS, on February 19, April 2, July 16 and October 8, 2014, Columbus City Council will again participate at the Job Boot Camp by coordinating and staffing a computer resource bank whereby visitors to the event may submit job applications online; and
