Explanation

BACKGROUND: Columbus Public Health received funding from The Central Benefits Health Care Foundation through The Columbus Foundation to implement a safe sleep education campaign. To complete the deliverables of the grant, Columbus Public Health will contract with Gatehouse Media Partners, Inc. These services were advertised through vendor services (SA005324) according to bidding requirements of the City Code. The contract compliance number for Gatehouse Media Partners, Inc. is 203576874 and is good through 03/25/2016.

This ordinance is submitted as an emergency to ensure the grant deliverables are met within the required timeline.

FISCAL IMPACT: This contract is entirely funded by the grand award from The Central Benefits Health Care Foundation.

WHEREAS, Columbus Public Health has received funding from The Central Benefits Health Care Foundation to develop and implement a safe sleep education campaign; and,

WHEREAS, Gatehouse Media Partners, Inc. has been awarded the contract through the RFP process to provide media services to implement a safe sleep education media campaign; and,

WHEREAS, the contract period is April 1, 2014 through March 31, 2015; and,

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of Columbus Public Health in that it is immediately necessary to enter into contract with Gatehouse Media Partners, Inc. for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare; Now, therefore,
