Explanation
Section 32.3 of the Collective Bargaining Contract with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), Ohio Council 8, Local 1632 requires that any modifications to the Contract be agreed between the parties. Memorandum of Understanding #20143-01 has been executed by the parties to amend Appendix A (classification listing) by assigning a pay range to the new classification of Parks Irrigation Specialist.
The passage of this ordinance indicates City Council's acceptance of Memorandum of Understanding #2014-01, a copy of which is attached hereto.
Emergency action is recommended in order to allow for timely recruiting efforts.

WHEREAS, representatives of AFSCME Ohio Council 8, Local 1632 and the City entered into Memorandum of Understanding #2014-01, a copy of which is attached hereto, which amends the Collective Bargaining Contract between the City and AFSCME, Ohio Council 8, Local 1632, April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2014; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the City in that it is immediately necessary to amend the Collective Bargaining Contract between the the City and AFSCME, Ohio Council 8, Local 1632 by accepting Memorandum of Understanding #2014-01, thereby preserving the public peace, health, safety, and welfare; Now Therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That Memorandum of Understanding #2014-01 amends the Collective Bargaining Contract between the City and AFSCME, Ohio Council 8, Local 1632, April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2014.
