BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Finance and Management Director to modify a contract with Unifirst Corporation to add items 30A-34D: per Solicitation No. SA005786/Rental of Uniforms & Building Maintenance Supplies.
In Ordinance 1127-2015 City Apparel was awarded items 30A-34D. However, after accepting the award, the supplier determined they could not fulfill their obligations of the contract. The Purchasing Office is recommending items 30A-34D be awarded to Unifirst Corporation, the next lowest, responsive, responsible, best and only bidder in addition to what was previously awarded to their company.
Emergency action is necessary to timely implement the proposed modification and execute a contract with Unifirst Corporation for Rental of Uniforms & Building Maintenance Supplies.

WHEREAS, it is necessary to modify the contract awarded to Unifirst Corporation to ensure the rental of non-safety uniforms and building maintenance supplies on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis without interruption, and to ensure items rented under the contract will remain in force, this is being submitted for consideration as an emergency measure; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Finance and Management, Purchasing Office, in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the Director to modify the contract awarded to Unifirst Corporation for the rental of uniforms and building maintenance supplies; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
