To recognize November as Senior Dog Month and encourage the people of Columbus to visit a dog shelter and adopt a senior dog.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, Senior Dogs are frequently overlooked at shelters or spend more time with dog rescue groups waiting to be adopted; and


WHEREAS, Senior Dogs make great family pets that are often calmer than young dogs and puppies; and


WHEREAS, Senior Dogs are past that annoying puppy chewing stage, and are usually already housebroken; and


WHEREAS, Senior Dogs are fully grown and their personalities are developed and you know what kind of dog you are getting; and


WHEREAS, Senior Dogs are often already trained and despite the old saying, can learn new tricks; and


WHEREAS, Senior Dogs can be a great match for senior human beings, providing so much love and companionship; and


WHEREAS, when you adopt a Senior Dog from a shelter you have the rewarding feeling that you have saved a life; and


WHEREAS, as Jeanne Sydney Seward has said, “Blessed is the person who has earned the love of a senior dog”; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS


To recognize November as Senior Dog Month, encourage the people of Columbus to visit a dog shelter and adopt a senior dog, and continue to make Columbus the best place to live, work, raise a family, and adopt a senior dog.
