To commemorate the work of Bishop McKinley Young, and to congratulate him on celebrating a quadrennial of exceptional service to the City of Columbus

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Young was assigned to the Third Episcopal District in 2004 at the General Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Young has led successful and noteworthy “Get out the Vote,” drives and led the AME Church in our city to be the premiere drivers of “Souls to the Polls.”

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Young has provided council and support by being a trusted advisor providing open and honest feedback to many of the elected leaders within City Government.

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Young is a prominent and respected advocate in the Columbus Community through his work within the AME Church and by being one of its official residents.

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Young led the City of Columbus to reflect on the founder of the AME Church, thru the unveiling of the Bishop Richard Allen Postage Stamp and we as a City were honored to name the street, directly beside one of our cities greatest buildings, St. Paul AME Church, Bishop Richard Allen Way; now, therefore,

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: 

That this Council does hereby congratulate Bishop McKinley Young on his years of service and his contributions to making the City of Columbus the best place to live, work and raise a family.
