To honor, recognize, and celebrate the life of Mr. Burton Schildhouse and to extend our sincerest condolences to his family and friends on the occasion of his passing, Tuesday, March 15, 2016


Body
Whereas, Mr. Burton ”Burt” Schildhouse, age 90, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, surrounded by family, kisses and love; and

Whereas, Mr. Schildhouse was a communication specialist and consultant to government, private business, political candidates and numerous community groups; and

Whereas, Mr. Schildhouse was born in 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio; a veteran of the US Army Air Force, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Western Reserve University; a Founding Board Member of Columbus International Program, a Media Advisor to Senator John Glenn, and Governors Michael DiSalle, John Gilligan, and Mayor ME Sensenbrenner and others; and

Whereas, Mr. Schildhouse was a member of the Board at the Columbus Jewish Community Center, elected treasurer of the Community Action Program CMACAO; and ended his professional career as a vice president of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Director of its Small Business Development Center; and

Whereas, Mr. Schildhouse, was a life-long political junkie, and appropriately, “Burt” passed away on Ohio's Primary Election Day; and

Whereas, Mr. Burton Schildhouse leaves to cherish his memory his adored wife, lover and companion of 65 years, Mrs. Ruth Schaffer Schildhouse; daughters, Julie (Michael) Jacobson, Amy (Josh) Greenberg, Melissa (Chip) Welsh; grandchildren, Daniel Zabludovsky, Bess and Jake Greenberg, Lily and Max Welsh; nephews, Harold (Claire) Weinberg, Robert (Laurel) Weinberg, niece, Carol Weinberg, loving friends and Team Schildhouse caregivers, Frank Williams, Lamahr Darden, the Ohio Health Hospice team, and newest team members, "The Ladies."

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
