To Congratulate Al Edmondson on receiving the 2016 Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award and to thank him for his continued service and leadership in the City of Columbus.

WHEREAS, The Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award honors outstanding service to the urban community and proceeds from its presentation support the Boy Scouts’ Urban ScoutReach program; and
WHEREAS, this year’s honoree, Al Edmondson, is a proud graduate of East High School and served in the United States Army where he received a Bronze Star; and
WHEREAS, Al Edmondson is the founder of Making a Difference, Inc., owner of A Cut Above the Rest, and creator of The Taste of Mount Vernon magazine; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his many accolades, he serves as an ambassador for the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, The Life Line of Ohio, and hosted the first King/Lincoln Memorial Pride; and
WHEREAS, Al Edmondson spearheads neighborhood revitalization efforts, local community action committees, and helps to make the City of Columbus the best place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby congratulate Al Edmondson on receiving the 2016 Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award and thank him for his continued service and leadership in the City of Columbus.
