Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the expenditure of $115,000.00 within the General Fund for membership dues and subscriptions for various organizations. The city maintains memberships with various national, state and regional organizations. This ordinance authorizes the establishment of contracts, purchase orders and subsequent payments to various organizations including:
National League of Cities
Ohio Municipal League,
U.S. Conference of Mayors,
Hannah News Service,
Government Finance Officers' Association,
Central Ohio Organization of Public Purchasers,
National Institute of Governmental Purchasing,
As a member of these organizations, the City of Columbus receives many benefits including, but not limited to seminars, publications, and access to a nationwide pool of municipal leaders who share similar challenges, concerns, and initiatives.
Emergency action is requested such that these important memberships can continue without interruption, as they are year-long subscriptions and memberships.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds in the amount of $115,000.00 are budgeted within the Department of Finance and Management, Financial Management Division General Fund for citywide membership dues.
