To honor and recognize IMPACT Community Action and the leadership of CEO Robert "Bo" Chilton on its 5th Annual Ripple of Hope Awards Luncheon.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, IMPACT Community Action, led by CEO Robert "Bo" Chilton, mission is dedicated to fighting poverty by providing hope-inspiring insight, by offering programs that are meant to create employment opportunities, and  promote self-sufficient practices; and

 

WHEREAS, Community Action Agencies, for more than 50 years, have promoted self-sufficiency for people with limited incomes and have and continue to be important partners in the fight against poverty and in the effort to reform welfare; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ripple of Hope Awards Luncheon was established by IMPACT Community Action in 2012 to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of individuals and organizations from the public, private and nonprofit sectors, as well as to celebrate excellence in our community; and

 

WHEREAS, the 5th Annual Ripple of Hope Awards Luncheon will take place on May 31st  2016 at the Columbus Hilton Hotel at Easton located at 3900 Chagrin Drive, with anchor Mike Jackson of NBC4  serving as The Master of Ceremonies, and acclaimed author and columnist, Dr. Melissa Harris-Perry delivering the key note address for the award ceremony; and

 

WHEREAS,  The 2016 Ripple of Hope Award winners are Ohio State Senator Charleta B. Tavares, from the public sector, Mr. Philip E. Cole  from the private/nonprofit sector, and Ms. Lela Boykin from the community; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ripple of Hope Awards Luncheon is an important acknowledgement of the ongoing effort and work that is being done to improve the health of our community; inspiring others to continue the ongoing battle to keep people moving forward economically and socially; and

 

WHEREAS, by taking this step, honoring those who are leading this cause, IMPACT Community Action has not only become a beacon of hope and inspiration for those who are struggling; but moreover, these awards show our community that there are leaders who work and advocate for them every day; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: 

 

That this Council does hereby honor and recognize IMPACT Community Action and the leadership of CEO Robert "Bo" Chilton on its 5th Annual Ripple of Hope Awards Luncheon.
