Explanation
BACKGROUND:
To maintain the daily operations of the employee fitness center and provide programs in accordance with the Department of Human Resource’s Healthy Columbus program, extending the contract with the YMCA of Central Ohio and providing additional funding for employee fitness center management services is necessary. Cost estimates were based on the 2016 employee utilization and programing of the employee fitness center. The contract is for a three-year period, subject to annual appropriation; this ordinance represents the third year.
Emergency action is requested to ensure employee fitness center management services for city employees are able to commence as soon as contractually possible, thereby maintaining continuity of service.

FISCAL IMPACT: To modify and extend the contract with the YMCA of Central Ohio to establish the maximum obligation liability, and to authorize the expenditure of up to $55,762 for employee fitness center management services from February 1, 2017 through January 31, 2018. Funding is available in the 2017 budget for this contract. Contingent on the passage of ordinance 3081-2016.
