Explanation
This ordinance authorizes an appropriation of $5,301 within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund to Columbus City Council. The aforementioned appropriation will fund the purchase of supplies and materials in support of National Night Out.
National Night Out is an annual event intended to highlight police programs within communities and raise the awareness of neighborhood watch programs, drug prevention efforts, and other community policing initiatives. In 2016, more than 150 Columbus neighborhoods participated in National Night Out. The 2017 event will take place on August 1.
Fiscal Impact: Funding is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund.
Emergency action is requested in order to have appropriations in place prior to the event on August 1.

To authorize an appropriation of $5,301.00 within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund in support of National Night Out; and to declare an emergency. ($5,301.00)
Body
WHEREAS, National Night Out is an annual event intended to highlight police programs within communities and raise the awareness of neighborhood community policing; and
WHEREAS, the appropriations will be utilized for the procurement of materials and supplies in support of the National Night Out event taking place on August 1; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily business of the city in that it is immediately necessary to authorize appropriations in order to procure supplies in time for the August 1 event; now, therefore:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the City Auditor is hereby authorized and directed to appropriate $5,301.00 in the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund, fund 1000, subfund 100018, to Columbus City Council per the accounting codes in the attachment to this ordinance.
