To recognize and honor the Director and Artist from the film, “Take Me to the River” and to welcome them to the City of Columbus

WHEREAS, “Take Me to the River,” is a documentary that illuminates the rich history of the Memphis Music Scene during the 50's and 60's, Stax Records, and chronicles the creation of a new album that pairs blues legends from the era with contemporary stars of today; and
WHEREAS, Soul singer, architect of the Stax Records sound, and 2017 Grammy winner William Bell is joined by fellow 2017 Grammy winner, Bobby Rush and gospel soul great, Don Bryant of Hi Records; and
WHEREAS, “Take Me to the River,” previously took home the Audience Award at SXSW Film Festival and received national attention for the legendary documentary; and
WHEREAS, On Thursday, September 21st, Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center will be hosting a reception for the director and several artist from the film located at the well-known Fort Hayes Performing Arts Theater; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby congratulate the makers and participants of the film and we welcome you to the capital city of Columbus, OH.
