Explanation

BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes and accepts the appropriation of $127,147.50 to the Health Department in the City’s Private Grants Fund, Fund No. 2291, for fiscal year 2018. This is the annual appropriation ordinance for the Health Department in the City’s Private Grants Fund. It allows for the operating of the Cardinal Health Foundation CelebrateOne Community Fund at The Columbus Foundation in support of the Baby and Me Tobacco Free Program and The Columbus Foundation 2018 Big Give Project Grant Program.

Emergency action is requested to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.

FISCAL IMPACT: These grant projects are funded through grant awards from non-governmental agencies. Some grant projects may collect fees and some may be subsidized by donations.

WHEREAS, it is immediately necessary to appropriate funds for the Health Department in the City’s Private Grants Fund for the 12 months beginning January 1, 2018, and ending December 31, 2018 because it allows for the operating of the Cardinal Health Foundation CelebrateOne Community Fund at The Columbus Foundation in support of the Baby and Me Tobacco Free Program and The Columbus Foundation 2018 Big Give Project Grant Program; and

WHEREAS, this ordinance is submitted as an emergency so as to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management; and
