To honor, recognize and celebrate the life of Richard "Dick" Marshall and extend our sincerest condolences to his family and friends on the occasion of his passing, Sunday, February 4, 2018.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, Richard "Dick" Marshall completed his period of faithful service on this earth on Sunday, February 4, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio,  supported by the prayers of his family and dearest friends; and 

 

WHEREAS, “Dick” was born on Thursday July 31, 1952 to the union of his parents, John and Helen Marshall in Columbus, Ohio; and

 

WHEREAS, “Dick” was proud to be a “Bulldog” and was a member of the ‘Class of 1970 students that graduated from Columbus South High School; and

 

WHEREAS, “Dick” worked as part of the original Donato’s crew at the store located at 1000 Thurman Avenue on the Southside of Columbus, Ohio - he also served in a number of sales positions for the organization; and

 

WHEREAS, “Dick” was an avid sports fan who loved coaching, officiating and collecting sports memorabilia - Dick also served as a baseball coach for the “Kobel Road Celtics,” which was an African-American Middle School team that existed on the Southside during the 1970’s - Vaugh “Butchie” Bass was proud to be named among one of his players who maintained a close relationship with him over the years; and

 

WHEREAS,  “Dick”  counted his family among his proudest achievements -  “Dick” is survived by daughters, Angie Marshall, Valerie Myers (Mike Powell), and Laura (Jack) Garren; grandchildren, Megan, Patrik, Brandi, Brandon, Jacob, Kayla, Bailey, Connor, Kascidy, and Faith; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, John and Jody Marshall, Steve, Tom, and Jack Bendure; mother of his children, Deborah Marshall;  and many other relatives and special friends; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:  That this Council does hereby honor, recognize and celebrate the life of Richard "Dick" Marshall and extend our sincerest condolences to his family and friends on the occasion of his passing, Sunday, February 4, 2018.
