Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes an amendment to Ordinance 3176-2017 passed December 11, 2017, which authorized the Director of the Department of Development to contract with the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, to provide support to the 2018 NCAA Women’s Final Four Tournament. The City’s total financial support commitment is budgeted at $250,000.00 and Ordinance 3176-2017 encumbered one-half ($125,000.00) for this purpose. Therefore, this ordinance seeks authority to amend Ordinance 3176-2017 to add the remaining $125,000.00 in support of this event. All other terms and conditions referenced in Ordinance 3176-2017 related to the agreement between the City and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission remain unchanged.
Emergency Justification: Emergency legislation is requested to ensure timely payment can be made and financial support can be provided.
Financial Impact: Funding in the amount of $125,000 is budgeted and available within the general fund. These funds will be transferred from the Department of Finance and Management to the Department of Development, within the general fund.
