To honor and recognize the life and service of Henry “Hank” Simpson

Body

WHEREAS, Henry is a lifetime citizen of Columbus, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Henry has served as the Chairman for the Thursday Noon Club since 2003 and he has also been the Choir Director and seated on the Board of Directors for St. Paul’s A.M.E church for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, under Henry’s leadership the Thursday Noon Club has been able to have tremendous impact on the development of the Near East Side Community; and

WHEREAS,  the Thursday Noon Club has been instrumental in helping to eliminate the sorts of economic and social disparities that plagued the Near East Community in part because of the intuition and initiative of Henry; and

WHEREAS,  Henry is a man of the people and has always made use of his strong advocacy skills and oration to keep an open line of dialogue between the community and the city leaders; and

WHEREAS, on March 15, 2018 the Thursday Noon Club will have its 75^th Anniversary Celebration, Change of the Guard honoring retiring General Chairman Henry “Hank” Simpson; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

That we hereby honor the life and service of Henry “Hank” Simpson and recognize his dedication to betting the Columbus Community.
