To congratulate Jeremy Matthew Thoma for receiving the 2018 Central Ohio AFL-CIO Boy Scout Award
Body
WHEREAS, The George Meany Awards Banquet, the largest labor recognition of its kind in the country is a night for the Central Ohio AFL-CIO and the United Way Community Services Department to recognize local business and labor leaders who have given outstanding volunteer service to the community; and
WHEREAS, The George Meany Awards, named after the late George Meany, former President of the national AFL-CIO, are presented by the Central Ohio AFL-CIO to a labor person for outstanding leadership and support of health, welfare and recreation services to the Central Ohio Community; and
WHEREAS, Jeremy is a firefighter and paramedic with the Columbus Fire Department and has been there for over fourteen years; and
WHEREAS, Jeremy is the Cub Master of Cub Scout Pack 3194 in Westerville, Ohio, where he has been involved since 2012; and
WHEREAS, Jeremy serves as the Merit Badge Counselor for nine different Boy Scout merit badges including American Labor. He also teaches First Aid and CPR to Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts; and
WHEREAS, Jeremy is an active member of his community and his leadership and dedication to education and recreation through Scouting has and continues to enrich the lives of Ohio youth; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That we hereby congratulate Jeremy Matthew Thoma as the 2018 Central Ohio AFL-CIO Boy Scout Award recipient.
