To honor, recognize and congratulate philanthropist and volunteer Dr. Arthur Gan Hok Bing on being selected as the American Red Cross of Central Ohio’s 2018 Humanitarian of the Year
Body
WHEREAS, Dr. Bing provided compassionate care to patients over his 40 years of practice, has been a teacher and mentor to many plastic surgery interns, residents, and colleagues, and was a leader for Riverside Methodist Hospital’s Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery program; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Bing has shown his gratitude to his Riverside Methodist Hospital family for successfully treating his wife as she battled cancer by supporting the new cancer center, now named the Ohio Health Arthur G.H. Bing, MD Cancer Center; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Bing continues to serve Riverside as a member of the Ohio Health Foundation Riverside Methodist Hospital Development Board; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Bing has fostered better care for patients across the world through his work as a plastic surgeon with Project Smile in Peru, Paraguay, and Honduras; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Bing continues to impact medical education in Indonesia by contributing medical texts, journals, and other materials to medical schools there; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Bing is bringing his compassionate and caring spirit to his volunteer service with Opera Columbus, the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, The Wilds, Opera Columbus, and the American Red Cross of Central Ohio; and,
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross of Central Ohio works to prepare, prevent, and respond to disasters affecting our neighbors and is part of the world’s largest humanitarian network; and
WHEREAS, The American Red Cross of Central Ohio annually honors an outstanding individual, family, or organization that best represents the values of a true humanitarian; now, therefore
