To recognize and celebrate American Municipal Power as the 2018 GreenSpotLight Award Winner in the Large Business Category

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, American Municipal Power will be recognized as the 2018 GreenSpotLight Award Winner in the Large Business Category on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the GreenSpotLight Award Celebration at the Franklin Park Conservatory; and

 

WHEREAS, American Municipal Power, located at 1111 Schrock Road, is a nonprofit corporation that owns and operates electric facilities with 126 employees. American Municipal Power became a GreenSpot in 2013 and has made changes in the past year to warrant this award; and

 

WHEREAS, to win a GreenSpotLight Award in the Large Business Category, a large-sized business must make a significant effort to minimize its impact on the environment and Columbus. Among the many changes made in 2017, American Municipal Power reduced the amount of paper used for weekly publications and meeting materials by sending through email, replaced the roof with a white-reflective roofing material, and replaced an old HVAC chiller with one that improved efficiency and lowered operating costs; and

 

WHEREAS, in addition, American Municipal Power recycled nearly 60,000 pounds of various materials in 2017; and

 

WHEREAS, GreenSpot congratulates and thanks American Municipal Power on its efforts to become a greener, more sustainable business; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize and celebrate American Municipal Power for its commitment to a clean and sustainable future in the city of Columbus.
