To recognize and celebrate German Village as being designated a GreenSpot Neighborhood
Body
WHEREAS, German Village will be recognized as a new GreenSpot Neighborhood on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the GreenSpotLight Award Celebration at the Franklin Park Conservatory; and

WHEREAS, to become a GreenSpot Neighborhood, a community must collectively make a significant effort to minimize its impact on the environment and Columbus. Among the many changes made in 2017, German Village began holding GreenSpot Neighborhood meetings, informed and engaged their neighbors about the benefits of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), used their GreenSpot Neighborhood German Village Facebook page to educate neighbors on tips to conserve and protect water, and are continuing to incorporate sustainability into their neighborhood preservation plan ; and
WHEREAS, in addition to those changes, the German Village Society Haus is in the process of changing their lights to LED, including all holiday lights. Further, Art Crawl 2018 will no longer supply plastic water bottles, but will instead use a water refill station and promote bringing a reusable bottle; and
WHEREAS, GreenSpot congratulates and thanks German Village on its efforts to become a greener, more sustainable neighborhood in our city; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize and celebrate the neighborhood of German Village for its commitment to a clean and sustainable future in the city of Columbus.
