To Recognize April 3rd as the National Service Recognition Day and Encourage Community Members to Participate in Community Service and Outreach.

 

Body

WHEREAS, community service is a pillar of community growth and the foundation for building strong neighborhoods and communities; and

 

WHEREAS, the Corporation for National and Community Service ranks Columbus as one of the top 25 cities for community volunteerism, with more than 400,000 volunteers logging over 55 million hours of service in 2015 and over 50% of residents donating to charity; and

 

WHEREAS, Columbus residents’ philanthropic efforts continuously impact the lives of individuals and entire neighborhoods; from school fundraisers to educational campaigns to social ventures, many members of our wonderful community have found ways to make a difference in the lives of others; and

 

WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of community service and outreach and encourages all residents to reach out a helping hand to neighbors and community members; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

That this Council does hereby recognize April 3rd as the National Service Recognition Day and encourage community members to participate in community service and outreach.
