To Recognize Kyle McKay and His Work to Advocate for the Developmentally Disabled Community and Honor Him as a Recipient of the 2018 Jefferson Award
Body
WHEREAS, Kyle McKay, an advocate for people with Down Syndrome and other developmental disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Kyle, who has Down Syndrome, has overcome his fears of public speaking and flying so that he can advocate on behalf of others like him; and
WHEREAS, he is a board member for the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio, where he has become a leader, especially in the area of fundraising; and
WHEREAS, he has flown to Washington DC to lobby legislators and provide testimony in support of legislation that benefits hundreds of thousands of people with disabilities; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby recognize Kyle McKay and his work advocating for people with Down Syndrome and other developmental disabilities and honor him as a recipient of the 2018 Jefferson Award on April 3, 2018.
