To Recognize Santino Carnevale and His Work to Fundraise for Cancer Research and Honor Him as a Recipient of the 2018 Jefferson Award.

 

Body

WHEREAS, after watching his relatives lose a hard-fought battle with cancer-including his father and grandfather-eleven-year-old Santino Carnevale decided to wage a war of his own and began his tireless effort to raise funds and awareness for cancer research; and

 

WHEREAS, his fundraising efforts began with neighborhood lemonade stands, eventually expanding to community tailgates; and

 

WHEREAS, since developing a webpage entitled “Santino’s Crusade for a Cancer Free World” with the support of doctors at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, Santino has raised over $40,000; and

 

WHEREAS, because of his hard work and commitment, Santino has been nominated for the 2018 Jefferson Award by local firefighters who support his cause and admire his dedication; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

That this Council does hereby recognize Santino Carnevale and his work to fundraise for cancer research and honor him as a recipient of the 2018 Jefferson Award on April 3, 2018.
