To declare the week of February 10, 2019 to be First Responders Week in Columbus, Ohio
Body
WHEREAS, dedicated professionals, including emergency dispatchers, law enforcement personnel, firefighters, emergency medical services and search and rescue teams, and many other heroes of public safety, comprise the corps of first responders who protect and aid the public during emergencies and in times of crises; and
WHEREAS, Columbus’ first responders are highly trained professionals equipped with specialized education and skill sets that enable them to effectively address situations of urgency, protect public property, and save lives; and
WHEREAS, every day, our first responders risk their own safety and personal wellbeing in the performance of their duties, willingly serving and protecting the citizens of Columbus while eliminating potential threats to public safety and welfare; and
WHEREAS, First Responder Face-Off Foundation supports first responders in numerous capacities; be it in scholarships for children of injured first responders, efforts in detecting and reducing occupational diseases, financial assistance for first responders in times of tragedy and loss, and assistance in mobility and accommodation of first responders facing life-altering injury; and,
WHEREAS, the fourth annual First Responder Face-Off will take place on Saturday, February 16, at Schottenstein Center, pitting Columbus Fire Hockey against Columbus Police Hockey for the Buckeye Cup; now therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby declare the week of February 10, 2019 to be First Responders Week, and expresses its gratitude to all of Columbus’s first responders for their outstanding contributions to the safety and well-being of the citizens of Columbus.
