BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Finance and Management Director to establish two (2) Universal Term Contracts (UTCs) for the option to purchase Office Chairs with Continental Office Furniture and King Business Interiors. Office chairs are used by all City agencies to meet the needs and comfort of personnel in various work environments. The term of the proposed option contract would be approximately two (2) years, expiring April 30, 2021, with the option to renew for one (1) additional year. The Purchasing Office opened formal bids on January 24, 2019. In addition, the expenditure of $2.00 is hereby authorized from General Budget Reservation BRPO001107.

The Purchasing Office advertised and solicited competitive bids in accordance with the relevant provisions of Section 329 relating to competitive bidding (Request for Quotation No. RFQ011103). Two (2) bids were received.

The Purchasing Office is recommending award to the overall lowest, responsive, responsible and best bidders as follows:

Continental Office Furniture, CC# CC13238-102725 expires 1/31/2020, Items 3, 4 (9 to 5 Seating); 7, 8 (Hon); 9 (Allseating); 10, 11 (Herman Miller); 12, and 13 (SitOnIt), $1.00
King Business Interiors, Inc., CC# WBE005688 expires 2/28/2021, Items 1, 2 (Groupe LaCasse/United Chair); 5 and 6 (Global), $1.00

Total Estimated Annual Expenditure: $300,000.00, All City Agencies

Emergency Designation: The Finance and Management Department respectfully requests this legislation to be considered an emergency ordinance so that office furniture may be replaced as soon as practical.

These companies are not debarred according to the Excluded Party Listing System of the Federal Government or prohibited from being awarded a contract according to the Auditor of State Unresolved Findings for Recovery Certified Search.
