Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Finance and Management Director to renew an existing Universal Term Contract (UTC) for the option to obtain Wearing Apparel for the Department of Recreation and Parks with SMG Enterprises LLC dba Challenger Teamwear. This contract provides for sport uniforms for organized sports programs for the Department of Recreation and Parks.
The contract, PO134737 was established in accordance with Request for Quotation RFQ007385 and authorized under Ordinance Number 2144-2018 and will expire May 30, 2020. In accordance with the bid specifications, the City and SMG Enterprises LLC dba Challenger Teamwear can renew the contract for an additional one year term subject to mutual agreement and approval of proper City Authorities. The new contract expiration date will be May 30, 2021.
FISCAL IMPACT: No funding is required to renew the option contract. The Department of Recreation and Parks must set aside their own funding for their estimated expenditures.

Body
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Office entered into a Universal Term Contract for Sports Wearing Apparel for use by the Department of Recreation and Parks; and
WHEREAS, this contract was entered into in accordance with Chapter 329 of the Columbus City Code, pursuant to solicitation RFQ007385 with SMG Enterprises LLC dba Challenger Teamwear deemed the most responsive, responsible and best bidder, and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the bid specifications, the City and SMG Enterprises LLC dba Challenger Teamwear can renew the contract for an additional one year period, subject to mutual agreement and approval of proper City authorities; and
WHEREAS, it has become necessary in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department to authorize the Finance and Management Director to renew a Universal Term Contract with SMG Enterprises, LLC., dba Challenger Teamwear for the option to obtain Sports Wearing Apparel; now, therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the Finance and Management Director is hereby authorized to renew the option contract with SMG Enterprises, LLC., dba Challenger Teamwear, PO134737 for a period of one year, from April 30, 2020 to and including May 30, 2021.
SECTION 2. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
