Explanation

This ordinance is to authorize the Director of the Recreation and Parks Department to enter into contract with ProCon Professional Construction Services for replacement of Doors at Thompson Community Center.

Background: The Thompson Community Center Door & Window Replacement project that took place in 2019 has finished and the contract is in process of being closed. It was later decided to replace the remaining doors on the building. This was not part of the original contract due to funding limitations. The new doors will not only improve the appearance of the building, they will also be insulated and will improve the buildings energy efficiency rating.

Bids were advertised through Vendor Services, in accordance with City Code Section 329 on December 20, 2019 and were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on January 17, 2020.

After reviewing the proposal that were submitted, it was determined that ProCon was the lowest and most responsive bidder.

Emergency Justification: This legislation will need to be emergency in order to allow work to be completed by early June before the center begins operating under extended summer hours.

Benefits to the Public: This project will benefit the community by reducing the operating cost of the building through the installation of new insulated doors. It will also improve the functionality and aesthetics of the doors which will improve the user experience...
