Explanation

BACKGROUND
This ordinance authorizes the Administrative and Presiding Judge of the Franklin County Municipal Court to accept a grant in the amount of $50,000 from the Franklin County Office of Justice Policy and Programs, and to appropriate the total amount of the grant from the unappropriated balance of the general government grant fund to the Specialized Docket of the Franklin County Municipal Court. This grant is a continuation of services and will fund a Peer Support Specialist to be assigned to the Helping Achieve Recovery Together (h.a.r.t), the opiate specific specialized docket. The Specialized Dockets have increased their understanding of and value for that of a Peer Support Specialist, an individual with lived experience and specific training to assist in the rehabilitation of participants. This Peer Support Specialist will be a mentor specifically to the participants of the h.a.r.t specialty docket.


Emergency Legislation is requested so that the grant funds can be used as close to the start date of October 1 as possible.

FISCAL IMPACT
$50,000.00 will be expended from the General Government Grant Fund.
