Explanation
1.0 BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a construction contract with Danbert, Inc. for the Harrington Ct. Area Water Line Improvements Project in an amount up to $3,852,754.35; to encumber funds with the Department of Public Service for prevailing wage services in an amount up to $2,000.00; for Capital Improvements Project No. 690236-100091, Division of Water Contract Number 2115.
Water line work includes replacement of 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch water lines that have a high break frequency.
The Department of Public Service will be cost participating on miscellaneous streets throughout the project area to provide additional asphalt and concrete pavement restoration. Contingency quantities were also included to allow DPS to determine additional areas that may need replaced during the project.
The community planning area is 35 - Northland and includes the following areas: Westerville Rd., Indianola Ave., Saling Ct., Karl Rd., Cypresswood Ct., Firwood Pl., Seaton Ct., Ambleside Ct., Chelmsford Ct., Bosworth Ct., Redfern Pl., Harrington Ct., Ashtree Pl., Brimfield Ct., Shawberry Ct. West and East, Northtowne Ct., Millington Ct., Autumnhill Ct., Sedgwick Ct., Tuliphill Ct., Litchfield Ct., Skylark Ln., and Stoney Creek Ct.
2.0 ECONOMIC IMPACT/ADVANTAGES; COMMUNITY OUTREACH; PROJECT DEVELOPMENT; ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS/ADVANTAGES OF PROJECT: The goal of this project is to replace or rehabilitate the existing 6-inch, 8-inch and 12-inch water lines that have a high break frequency. Replacement of these water lines will improve water service, decrease burden on water maintenance operations, and reduce water loss. The Neighborhood Liaison(s) has been contacted and informed of this project. Further community outreach may result through the Neighborhood Liaison Program.
