Explanation

The purpose of this ordinance is to authorize the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a contract renewal with Crane 1 Services, Inc. to provide for the annual inspection, certification, submittal of an annual report discussing the findings of inspections, and needed maintenance and repairs or replacement of the approximately 200 cranes and hoists, and a number of hoisting appurtenances, all in use in the facilities of the Division of Sewerage and Drainage, FEM Project No. 1402.5. This specialized work is needed to provide safety-rated operational equipment at our maintenance and process facilities. Additional Department of Public Utilities facilities may be included in the future.

The Department of Public Utilities advertised and solicited competitive bids in accordance with the relevant provisions of Chapter 329 of City Code (RFQ013732). One Hundred and Fifty (150) vendors were solicited and two (2) bids were received and opened on October 16, 2019. Crane 1 Services, Inc., with headquarters located at 2350 Refugee Park, Columbus, Ohio was determined to be the lowest, responsive and responsible bid received and was therefore awarded the contract. The original contract PO208922 was established for a period of one (1) year with three additional one (1) year renewal options. This is the first renewal, but the second year of this contract. The estimated amount to be spent for this service is $100,000.00. Each of the renewal options are subject to review and approval by City Council, and the appropriation and certification of funds by the City Auditor. Renewal No. 1 will extend the contract to January 20, 2022 and provide additional funding of $100,000.00. All terms and conditions of the original agreement remain in full force and effect. If unforeseen issues or difficulties are encountered that would require additional funding a modification would be required.
