Explanation

BACKGROUND: The Board of Health contracts physician services from The Ohio State University (OSU). This contract provides medical services for children and adult patients for the Ben Franklin Tuberculosis Clinic (TB) at Columbus Public Health (CPH).

This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to modify an existing contract with OSU for additional physician services for the CPH TB Clinic for the period of January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020 in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00, for a new total contract amount of $37,000.00.

Emergency action is requested in order to provide continued physician services for the CPH TB Clinic.

FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for this expenditure is budgeted in the Health Department Grants Fund.

Body

WHEREAS, the Board of Health has a need to modify an existing contract with OSU to provide additional physician services for the CPH TB Clinic for the period of January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020; and

WHEREAS, OSU has the expertise to provide physician services to patients in the CPH TB Clinic; and

WHEREAS, it has become necessary in the usual daily operation of the Board of Health to authorize the Board to modify an existing contract with OSU for the public health, safety and welfare; and

WHEREAS, this ordinance is submitted as an emergency in order to ensure continuity of services for clients of CPH TB Clinic; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of Columbus Public Health in that it is immediately necessary to modify a contract with OSU for physician services for the CPH TB Cl...
