Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to enter into a grant agreement with Lutheran Social Services for $50,000.00 in support of CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence.

CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence will use the grant funds to support Shelter Advocate staff in the shelter and on the hotline. Target constituencies include victims of domestic and dating violence and their families who must flee their home for safety. Safe shelter is a proven intervention to enhance safety of domestic violence victims. Deliverables include shelter for up to 144 adults and children each night, with 700 unique individuals served in 2021. CHOICES also anticipates responding to approximately 4,500 hotline crisis calls in 2021.

Fiscal Impact: Funding is available within the Reimagine Safety subfund.

Emergency action is requested to avoid any delay in providing critical resources to sustain the CHOICES shelter.
