Explanation
Background:
The Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging was awarded federal grant funds from the Ohio Department of Aging for the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program.

This program will provide vouchers for seniors to redeem with local organized markets, including the North Market, in various Central Ohio counties. Approximately 6,400 individuals are expected to receive vouchers.

EMERGENCY DESIGNATION:
Emergency action is requested so that the program can be implemented by May 1, 2021 in accordance with grant conditions.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact of this ordinance will be to appropriate $222,152.00 to the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund. This appropriation will enable the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging to continue administering said program during 2021.

WHEREAS, the Department of Recreation and Parks, Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, was awarded federal grant funds from the Ohio Department of Aging for the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging to appropriate funds received funding from the Ohio Department of Aging to continue the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department, Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, in that it is immediately necessary to accept and appropriate said funds so that the program can be implemented by May 1, 2021 in accordance with grant conditions and there is no interruption of services to older adults, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; NOW, THEREFORE
