Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a construction contract with Danbert, Inc. for the New World Dr. Water Line Improvements Project; in an amount up to $241,766.44; for Division of Water Capital Improvements Project No. 690236-100148, Contract No. 2321.
Funds in the amount of $2,000.00 will also be encumbered with the Department of Public Service for Prevailing Wage services.
Work consists of installation of a 12-inch waterline underneath a railroad crossing, and other such work as may be necessary to complete the contract, in accordance with the drawings, technical specifications, special provisions, and City of Columbus Construction and Material Specifications as set forth in the Invitation For Bid (IFB).

ECONOMIC IMPACT/ADVANTAGES; COMMUNITY OUTREACH; PROJECT DEVELOPMENT; ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS/ADVANTAGES OF PROJECT: The goal of this project is to replace a 12-inch water main that broke underneath a railroad crossing. Replacement of this water line will improve water service, decrease burden on water maintenance operations, and reduce water loss. The Neighborhood Liaison(s) has been contacted and informed of this project. Further community outreach may result through the Neighborhood Liaison Program.
CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AWARD: The Director of Public Utilities publicly opened three (3) bids on May 26, 2021 from: Danbert, Inc., Darby Creek Excavating, and Driven Excavating.
The lowest bid, from Driven Excavating, was deemed Non-Responsive as they were not Prequalified.
PRE-QUALIFICATION STATUS: Danbert, Inc. and all proposed subcontractors have met code requirements with respect to pre-qualification, pursuant to relevant sections of Columbus City Code Chapter 329.
