To commend and thank Officer Scott Clinger for his outstanding service to the City of Columbus.

WHEREAS, in November 1994 Officer Scott Clinger began his service to the City of Columbus in the Columbus Police Academy after serving our country as a United States Marine for ten years; and
WHEREAS, on June 24, 2021, Officer Clinger concludes 26+ year career with the Columbus Division of Police, most recently serving as the 18th Precinct Community Liaison Officer since 2008; and
WHEREAS, during that time, Officer Clinger has defined what it means to be an exemplary Community Liaison Officer. He has made business owners, community leaders, and neighbors throughout Northland and this city feel valued and heard; and
WHEREAS, Officer Clinger helped in the closing of many nuisance properties including hotels/motels, drug houses, and after-hours clubs; helped lead numerous policy changes thanks to the collaboration between Police and local advocates; and increased relationships and trust between the Division of Police and residents in the 18th Precinct; and
WHEREAS, Officer Clinger was integral in establishing and creating a law to provide a pathway to shut down crime ridden hotels and motels for the entire City of Columbus. This policy has become a national model; and
WHEREAS, Officer Clinger has served the Northland community with kindness, curiosity, and comradery. In return, he is respected and loved by all who have known and worked with him; and
WHEREAS, Columbus City Council wishes Officer Scott Clinger a happy retirement filled with new adventures, more time with family and friends, and laughter; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That Columbus City Council does hereby recognize the long career and outstanding service of Officer Scott Clinger to the City of Columbus.
