To honor and recognize the life and service of Tearicka Layon Cradle: Sunrise December 20, 2975 and Sunset July 18, 2021

 

 

Body

WHEREAS, Tearicka, a daughter, proud mother of two and grandmother of a beautiful grandson; passionate in all aspects of her life. Whether it be taking care of her family or her commitment to her career helping others to restore their lives; and

 

WHEREAS, Tearicka was given a second chance as a participant in the inaugural Restoration Academy program in 2012, started by former Mayor Michael B. Coleman where she took an opportunity and made it her life work; and

 

WHEREAS, during the program, Tearicka displayed exemplary leadership qualities that earned her the position of program coordinator for the Restoration Academy. Tearicka was very passionate about her work and built lifelong relationships with every class; and

 

WHEREAS, during her tenure at the City of Columbus, Tearicka obtained her Master’s in Education and was working toward her Doctorate in Business Administration, Management and Operations. Tearicka felt that education is very important to be successful. On her own, she successfully coordinated an annual back to school drive for all students in need. She was always appreciative of the second chance that she was given and wanted to pay it forward.

 

WHEREAS, in November of 2019, Tearicka was awarded the Jerry Revish Restored Citizen Award. The Jerry Revish Restored Citizen Award is presented annually to someone who is dedicated to helping "ex-offenders" become "restored citizens;" and

 

WHEREAS, Tearicka was full of life, loved her family, especially her son, Sarone and daughter Cierra and grandson Xai. Tearicka loved spending time with family and friends and she loved her job. Tearicka Cradle is Columbus; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:  That we hereby honor the life and service of Tearicka L. Cradle and recognize her dedication to making Columbus the best place to live, work and raise a community.
