To Recognize A Tribe for Jazz for its Work Promoting Jazz Music and Musicians in Columbus

WHEREAS, A Tribe for Jazz is a Columbus-based non-profit organization founded in April 2021 that operates under the global mission to preserve the legacy and advance the future of jazz through visual storytelling, live and virtual performances, education, and community engagement; and

 

WHEREAS, A Tribe For Jazz is committed to engaging the Columbus community through events and activities that transform, educate, and lead to impactful conversations and purposeful actions surrounding the preservation of the jazz genre; and

 

WHEREAS, A Tribe For Jazz works to elevate the profile of world-renowned jazz musicians through cinematic short films, feature length performances, documentaries, and still photography in a way that consistently meets the high standard of excellence reflected in their music; and

 

WHEREAS, on Friday, October 15, 2021, A Tribe for Jazz will release an innovative, cinematic performance film featuring globally recognized saxophonist Jon Irabagon, called LEGACY Jon Irabagon, A Solo Tenor Odyssey, which was filmed on location in Columbus with a predominantly Columbus-based production team; and

 

WHEREAS, A Tribe For Jazz is a global platform for inspiration and education committed to bringing positive attention to the City of Columbus through music, arts, and culture; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize A Tribe for Jazz for its work promoting jazz music and musicians in Columbus.
