To honor, recognize, and celebrate the 47th General Assembly of the Union of Liberian Association in the Americas (ULAA)
Body
WHEREAS, Whereas the members of the Constitutional Convention in Liberian created the Republic of Liberia on July 26, 1847, as the first republic and the United States recognized Liberia as a nation in 1862; and
WHEREAS, the historical ties of the Republic of Liberia and the United States create a special bond between the two countries; and
WHEREAS, the Union of Liberian Association in the Americas (ULAA) is the de facto Liberian diaspora organization in the Americas; and
WHEREAS, the city of Columbus is home to a vibrant Liberian Community that contribute to the cultural, economic, and civic enrichment of the city; and
WHEREAS, over 10,000 Liberian descent call Columbus and Central Ohio home; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus welcomes immigrants and refugees to be part of our community, adding to the vibrancy and culture that has made Columbus one of the fastest growing cities in the Midwest ; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby honor, recognize, and welcomes all the delegates and representatives from each chapter in attendance to the 47th General Assembly of the Union of Liberian Association in the Americas (ULAA) on September 17-19, 2021
