Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes an amendment to Ordinance No. 1938-2021, due to the incorrect organization name listed in the ordinance.
The vendor name listed in Ordinance No. 1938-2021 is “Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.” when it should have been “The Achieving Standards of Excellence Foundation”. The legislation must be amended to allow execution of a valid agreement with the organization.
Emergency action is requested in order to ensure uninterrupted services.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds for this agreement are allocated in the General Fund, Neighborhood Initiatives subfund.
CONTRACT COMPLIANCE: The contract compliance number is CC039307 and expires on 8/16/2023.
Title
To amend Ordinance No. 1938-2021, passed July 26, 2021, to correct the organization name from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. to The Achieving Standards of Excellence Foundation; and to declare an emergency.
Body
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1938-2021, passed July 26, 2021, authorized the Director of Development to enter into a grant agreement with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, at the time of agreement execution, it was discovered that the organization name was incorrect in the ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the correct vendor name is The Achieving Standards of Excellence Foundation; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Development in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the Director to amend the agreement to ensure program services continue without interruption, all for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That Section 2. of Ordinance No. 1938-2021, passed July 26, 2021, be amended to read as follows: "Section 2. That the Director of the Department of Development is hereby authorized to enter into a grant agreement with The Achieving Standards of Excellence Foundation in an amount up to $10,000.00.”
SECTION 2. That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its approval by the Mayor, or ten days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
