Explanation

This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to modify and increase the Master Services Agreement with American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP, Inc.); to authorize the transfer of $2,273,624.00 within the operating fund of the Division of Power; and to authorize the expenditure of $2,273,624.00 to provide funding for the purchase of wholesale electricity and associated services during 2021 and early 2022. The funds authorized by this ordinance will cover the costs of power supply, and additional ancillary services provided by AMP, Inc. such as diesel generator maintenance, representation on federal power issues, staff training and customer development services for 2021 and early 2022.

This Ordinance is being submitted in accordance with the relevant provisions of Chapter 329 of the City Code pertaining to contract modifications.

Amount of additional funds: The total amount of additional funds needed for this contract modification #15 is $ 2,273,624.00 which is allocated for the purchase of wholesale electric power and for ancillary services provided by AMP, Inc. Total contract amount including this modification is $218,480,534.00.
2. Reason additional funds were not foreseen: An increase in usage and rise in the cost of electricity. The Division of Power currently has contracts in place with American Municipal Power, Inc. for the purchase of wholesale electricity and ancillary services. This legislation authorizes the increase in the amount of the contract to cover the needs for 2021 and early 2022.
