To Honor and Recognize the Columbus(OH) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on behalf of their dedication to empowering women and their outstanding service to the community

Body

WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913, by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University. The private, non-profit organization’s purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world; and

WHEREAS, The Columbus (OH) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (CAC), was established on May 20, 1934. The CAC, is a 501(C)7 organization committed to primarily serving the African-American community within Franklin County, through the sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust; and

WHEREAS, Throughout Columbus, the CAC provides numerous educational and enriching programs such as the Shirley Chisholm Conference for Girls in Government, the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy, Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS, EMBODI, and the Alexa Canady Doctors & Dentist Conference; and

WHEREAS, the members of the CAC strive to continue the legacy of sisterhood, scholarship and service. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development; Educational Development; International Awareness and Involvement; Physical and Mental Health and Political Awareness and Involvement. Keeping in pace with the organization’s goals, Epsilon Chapter has provided numerous educational and enriching programs for students and for residents; and

WHEREAS, On March 1, 2022, the Columbus Chapter will host “Empowering Women to Serve”, an event that honors Sisterhood Month and Women’s History Month. The celebration aims to empower women and youth to take an active role in the community; now, therefore
