Explanation

BACKGROUND: The Board of Health with Nationwide Children's Hospital for staffing and operation of five WIC clinics at their facilities. Columbus Public Health has been designated as the primary grantee agency and administrator for all WIC programs in Franklin County. The grant funds awarded provide for a contract with Nationwide Children's Hospital for the staffing and operation of five WIC clinics at their facilities.

This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to modify an existing contract with Nationwide Children's Hospital for the staffing and operation of five WIC clinics at their facilities for the period of October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022 in an amount not to exceed $246,084.00 for a new total contract amount of $892,655.00

This legislation authorizes the transfer of $246,084.00 within the WIC Grant Program fund 2251 to the appropriate object class for the modification of the NCH WIC Contract. As a part of the WIC Grant Program budget for Columbus Public Health, $246,084.00 was appropriated and placed into fund 2251, object class 01 for personnel. The transfer of these funds to object class 03, will allow for service costs for WIC clinic operations.

Emergency action is requested in order to provide continued staffing and operations of the NCH WIC clinics.

FISCAL IMPACT: The Women, Infants and Children Program is entirely funded by the Ohio Department of Health. This program does not generate any revenue or require a City Match.
