To honor, recognize, and celebrate Joseph A. Lombardi for his 32 years of public service and dedication to the City of Columbus.

WHEREAS, this Council honors and recognizes Joseph A. Lombardi for his outstanding service to the City of Columbus by giving his skills, energy, time, and commitment toward the betterment of our community through his dedicated service to the City of Columbus; and
WHEREAS, Joe has served in numerous leadership roles within the City, including Deputy Director of the Department of Public Utilities, Division of Power Administrator, and most recently as Director of the Department of Finance and Management; and
WHEREAS, Joe has served as Director of the Department of Finance and Management since 2016 and helped the City navigate an environment of considerable fiscal uncertainty during the Covid-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, as Finance Director, Joe’s vision and leadership helped the City respond quickly to the needs of the community, while supporting critical city services and safeguarding the fiscal stability and prosperity of the City; and
WHEREAS, Joe served as the Mayor’s appointee on numerous special committees to advance the Mayor’s efforts to improve the quality of life for residents, including the Opportunity Rising Steering Committee; and
WHEREAS, one of Joe’s mottos and guiding philosophies is the phrase “People Helping People”; and
WHEREAS, Joe’s compassion and respect for others helped create a culture where every employee is valued and empowered to succeed and has served as a mentor to many colleagues and fellow employees; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: that we honor and recognize Joseph A. Lombardi for his lasting contributions to the City of Columbus and the residents of our community.
